10 Perfect Movies With One Glaring Flaw

3. The Mandarin Twist - Iron Man 3 (2013)

Here's your friendly reminder that Iron Man 3 is a great film, and one of the MCU's best instalments. It also has one of its oddest twists.

Throughout the movie, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) is taunted and terrorised by the elusive terrorist The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), who the hero eventually hunts down. Only, The Mandarin is actually an actor called Trevor, put in place by the real villain, Killian (Guy Pearce) to scare everyone.

Now, it's not quite as bad as you might recall -- the way the movie treats Killian's conflicted right-hand Maya (Rebecca Hall) is arguably worse -- but the way the Trevor reveal is played for laughs feels completely out of place with the rest of the film, which is hard to focus on once Ben Kingsley spills the beans.

For a film that's so moody and melancholic, this bizarre plot twist and burst of lazy comedy just doesn't sit right, and Iron Man 3 could've done without it.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
