10 Perfect Slasher Horror Movies You've Never Heard Of

3. Sick

Last Girl Standing
Peacock

Not only is Sick terrifying because it features a crazed killer tormenting a couple of young women, but it's also terrifying because it's set during that time when the world shut down.

Set during the dark, dark days of the global pandemic, Sick centres on a couple of best pals who decide to quarantine together at a lakehouse. After all, if you're allowed to isolate with one of your buddies, where better to do it than a remote, beautiful lake-side spot, right?

Unfortunately for Parker and Miri, though, they start to receive eerie text messages, then have their phones stolen and their car's tires slashed, as it becomes apparent that something underhand is going on.

It almost feels a smidge unfair to give away any further details, given how Sick has some smart twists up its sleeve and was only released last year, but it's fair to say this is far from your stereotypical slasher and is instead a film with a healthy slice of social commentary running through it - in addition to some properly tense action, of course.
