10 Performances In Film Biopics That Actually Get It Right

5. Michael Sheen - Frost/Nixon

A battle of wits between David Frost and 37th president Richard Nixon, Frost/Nixon recreates the immeasurably tense moments, and Sheen is yet again so underrated for his role.

Michael Sheen's career has been littered with exceptional performances, from the unforgettable Unthinkable where he appears alongside Hollywood royalty Samuel L Jackson to his derranged take on doctor-turned-serial killer in FOX's Prodigal Son.

Here, he takes the role of David Frost, a British TV host who had the opportunity to interview Nixon following the famous Watergate scandal and, unsurprisingly, Sheen is simply excellent, capturing the inquisitive and persistent nature of the interviewer with ease.

A substantial amount of the film's 122 minute runtime is, naturally, centred around those fateful interviews, and as such the dialogue is delivered while seated in a somewhat undramatic manner. However, this doesn't mean that the performances are dampened by the lack of action, quite the opposite.

The scenes between Sheen's Frost and Frank Langella's Nixon are eerily quiet outside of the battle of words between the two, and the former does a phenomenal job in recreating David Frost's aloof confidence, intelligence and tenacity.

There are plenty of stunning performances in the 2008 feature film, but it's clear that Michael Sheen, once again, reigns supreme.
