10 Planned Comic Book Movie Scenes We’ll Never Get To See
3. Juggernauts Grand Entrance - Days Of Future Past
Though the climax of the prison break sequence that saw Wolverine, Professor X, Beast and Quicksilver rescue Magneto from his subterranean prison at the Pentagon was one of the highlights of Days Of Future Past - and the slow motion Quicksilver moment was probably the single greatest - but an early version of the script had a definitely prison break sequence replaced the speedster with an altogether less subtle object. Hitfixs Drew McWeeny discovered the existence of the sequence in conversation with Lauren Shuler-Donner and Simon Kinberg, who admitted that Juggernaut was originally the mutant used for the big Pentagon scene:
"Id read that draft of the script, and it was interesting seeing how they approached the same goal as in the finished film, but with a very different approach. In that draft, they dropped Juggernaut from a plane over the Pentagon, and he picked up enough speed that when he hit the ground, he went right through to the cell where Magneto was being held. Then they dropped Wolverine in after Juggernaut, so even though he was pulverized completely by the fall, he was able to heal quickly to help Magneto get out of the building. It seems obvious that they made the right choice going to Quicksilver instead, though, based on how much people love that scene."
That's clearly not as artfully conceived - or as hilarious - as the Quicksilver sequence, but it would have made for a considerable spectacle, and more importantly it would have finally given Cain Marko a means to claw back some of his reputation after what Vinnie Jones did to him in The Last Stand. Sadly though, suggestions that Josh Helman was up for the role proved false as he was cast as Stryker, and the character was robbed of his opportunity to give a better account of himself.
