10 Planned Movie Sequels To Failed Franchises

9. Halloween: Resurrection Sequel

Like many slasher movie franchises, Halloween has gone through sequels, sequels that ignore sequels and the inevitable reboot, with Rob Zombie's two Halloween films failing to match John Carpenter's original. One Halloween film that was a worthy successor was Halloween: H20. a sequel that kind of ignored the all but the first two films and saw Jamie Lee Curtis reprise her role as Laurie as she faced her killer brother years after the events in Haddonfield. Employing some of the post-modern traits of the successful Scream series, Halloween: H20 proved to be a slick, fun, scary slasher movie that seemed to put an end to Michael Myers for good. But of course Laurie chopping of his head proved to be a 'mere flesh wound' and he returned to kill her in the opening of the terrible Halloween: Resurrection. Not only was it an unnecessary sequel, it also failed to capitalise on the idea of the modern internet TV show tropes the film employed and as Myers hacked his way through mindless teens, the franchise came to a sputtering halt for the second time. But before the Rob Zombie reboot, there was talk of a sequel to Halloween: Resurrection, which would have seen Josh Hartnett reprise his role as Laurie's son John Tate from Halloween: H20 and seek revenge against his Myers for his mother's death. Thankfully this never happened. The moral of this tale? Watch the original Halloween, Halloween 2 (because it isn't as bad as other sequels and has a key plot development) and Halloween: H20. That's all you need...
