10 Planned Movie Sequels To Failed Franchises

2. Star Trek X (Post Star Trek: Nemesis)

The cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation never got the same fitting send-off as Kirk's crew in the movies. The critical failure of Star Trek Nemesis, which wasn't as bad as many made it out to be, put an end to Captain Picard and like the fatigue faced with 20 years of TV shows, the entire franchise went down the reboot territory. Understandably this left many fans frustrated; certainly there was some closure with Riker, Troi and to an extent Data in Star Trek Nemesis and the main story threads of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, but there was hope to wrap up the 'next generation' era in Star Trek X. According to Patrick Stewart and many other cast members from a all three 'next generation' shows who were keen to reprise their roles, the sequel to Star Trek Nemesis would have been an 'Avengers-style' movie that united all three crews for one major movie event. Data would have apparently been resurrected in B-4's body, Deep Space Nine and the USS Voyager would have worked alongside the USS Enterprise-E and fans would have been given the chance to see all their favourite Star Trek characters on screen one more time. While the 2009 Star Trek reboot was viewed as a success, it did so at the cost of abandoning everything that came before it, deying the fans one last chance to see the 'next generation' crews in action one last time.
