10 Popular Songs You Didn't Know Were Written Solely For Movies

8. Children Of The Revolution - T-Rex

Written For: Born to Boogie (1972)

Although it was famously used in Billy Elliot (2000), Children Of The Revolution was actually written to feature in another film 28 years before.

Born To Boogie features the T-Rex performing in concert, inter-cut with various sketches footage of the band recording in Apple Studios alongside Elton John and Ringo Starr, the latter of which also directed the movie.

Although the film in itself is an interesting watch for anybody interested in the acts involved, it is this track that truly stands out, eventually showing itself to be one of the bands most popular singles. Amongst the traditional hard rock instruments, the orchestral backing is what makes the song as memorable as it is, alongside Marc Bolan's distinctive vocals to create an immensely moving track.
