10 Popular Songs You Didn't Know Were Written Solely For Movies

9. Who Wants To Live Forever - Queen

Written For: Highlander (1986)

An emotive ballad for an emotive movie moment, Who Wants To Live Forever showcases the raw emotion and power that Queen are able to pour into their tracks.

With the accompaniment of the National Philharmonic Orchestra, all members of Queen are on top form (bar John Deacon, who is absent from the original recording), and with both Brian May and Freddie Mercury sharing lead-vocal duty, this is an indelible entry into Queen's discography.

Used when Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert), an immortal, watches as his wife Heather (Beatie Edney) grows old and dies whilst he lives on, the tragedy of the sequence is underscored by Who Wants To Live Forever, and shows to be a valuable addition to this cult classic.
