Big movie break: That's My Boy/Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping

Possibly one of the most disappointing entries on the list, Andy Samberg rose to fame as a member of comedy music group The Lonely Island, as well as his time as a cast member on Saturday Night Live.

While his first starring role in cult comedy Hot Rod certainly gave his reputation as an upcoming comic actor a boost, his next starring movie role came by way of That's My Boy alongside Adam Sandler.

That's My Boy was problematic at best, and downright disturbing in places, owing to a plot in which statutory rape is not only the central theme, but a joke.

Samberg was able to climb from the wreckage of That's My Boy and into audiences' hearts as Jake Peralta on Brooklyn Nine Nine, a role in which he has proved himself once again to be capable of incredible things.

2016 saw Samberg once again star in a movie, titled Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, for which he also served as a producer and writer alongside his Lonely Island bandmates. The film failed to gain any traction despite positive reviews from critics, leading us to wonder if Samberg will ever achieve the super-stardom he deserves.
