10 Possession Movies You Need To Watch If You Liked The Exorcist
5. The Possession Of Hannah Grace
This 2018 American horror movie, directed by Diederik van Rooijen and written by Brian Sieve, was originally met with negative reviews (despite earning a whopping $43million at the box office worldwide). Over time, however, fans have come to love this possession horror gem and it's becoming a little underground classic for fans of the genre.
The story focuses on ex-cop Megan Reed - the devil seems to be involved in law-enforcement yet again on this list - who has a deeply troubled past. She grapples with addiction and a traumatic event which sees her departing her career on the force. Megan takes on a job as security at the county morgue. It is during one of her first night shifts on the role that she helps take in the "delivery" of a recently deceased person – and that's when the horror truly begins. Megan soon finds herself under attack from a dark, demonic entity and her simple job turns into a battle for her soul.
The Possession of Hannah Grace is creepy in all the right ways and certainly has a few solid jump scares. Considering it's a low budget movie, it delivers the creepiness well and seems to be growing in popularity within the horror fanbase.
