10 Possibilities For Fox's Next X-Men Movie

The Apocalypse is coming… but what comes after the end of the world?

On May 27th this year, the next instalment in the X-Men saga will be released in cinemas worldwide - X-Men: Apocalypse. The stage is set for Fox€™s not-as-big-as-Marvel superhero franchise to make probably its biggest box office footprint yet. A few weeks ago, however, word was going around that the X-Men production juggernaut would be reassembling in Montreal in the middle of this year to begin putting the bare bones for the next X-Men movie together. They€™re not resting on their laurels, here. The Fantastic Four reboot has failed, so the mutants are all Fox has left to play with€ Scuttlebutt (like gossip with the mutant x-gene) says that the Wolverine movie currently in pre-production will be Hugh Jackman€™s last portrayal of the character, and with X-Men: Days Of Future Past having revised the timeline a wee bit (although the full extent of those revisions hasn€™t ever really been quantified), we know that certain characters that were dead after X-3 are now alive again. Of course, words like €˜next€™, €˜last€™ and €˜now€™ have a lot less meaning in a franchise that€™s €˜currently€™ (there I go again) set on telling stories set in the past and the future, but not the present. The thorn in the paw here isn€™t finding comics storylines and characters that the movie universe could pilfer, but in figuring out how they could work their way into the convoluted continuity of the franchise. Right then. Did you get all of that? Good good€ because here we go. Let€™s see what the possibilities are for the X-Men after the end of the world...
