A little trickier, this one: in the comics, the grizzled commando and war leader Cable is the grown version of Cyclops son Nathan. His life threatened as a baby, Cyclops is persuaded that the only way to keep Nathan safe from Apocalypse is to allow him to be taken to a future timeline to be raised. When Cable first appears in present-day X-Men continuity, hes a middle-aged, battle-scarred warrior who bears no resemblance to Cyclops. Hes travelled back in time again, but overshot, landing in the X-Mens past and being forced to travel to the present the old fashioned way one year at a time. That means that he ends up with ties to many people in old school Marvel continuity: hed fought alongside Wolverine, for example, years before Wolverine met the X-Men. Simplifying Cables convoluted origin story is probably vital in including him in any future X-Men movie. One way to do that would be to make him the son of Cyclops and Jean Grey (hes the son of a clone of Jean in the comics), and to remove reference to the specifics of the future that he comes from. Hes intended to be the mutant who will end up destroying Apocalypse, so its a perfect opportunity to reintroduce that villain to X-Men continuity, assuming he survives the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse film (and even if he doesnt, its very hard to permanently kill Apocalypse).
