10 Post-Credits Movie Scenes That Change Everything
10. Will Returns - Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End
Because Johnny Depp no longer cares about being regarded as a serious actor, 2017 will see the release of Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Another sequel in the once fresh series, Pirates 5 is already notable for marking the return of Orlando Bloom's Will Turner. Clearly he wasn't happy only crawling back to one of his big characters from the early-naughties.
Some people may question quite how Will can appear when at the end of At World's End he is undead and bound to The Flying Dutchman, but that very film's post-credit scenes presents a nice little get-out clause. Picking up ten years after his entrapment, it shows Will's former fiancee, Elizabeth, and her son see him sailing towards land. Now, according to the film-makers, as Elizabeth has remained faithful all this time, the curse on her beloved has been broken - Will's returning to land for good, and not just a day.
Now that's an unbelievably massive plot point to be snuck in at the end when the majority of the audience have left the cinema, particularly after the final act spent so much time on his all-but-ultimate sacrifice. Having Will return alive and well completely alters the ending's tone, making it much more upbeat and redemptive than initially portrayed.
