6. Thanos Earns His Rep
The problem with the latest Thanos scene is that it confused people who didn't know the character from the comics, yet it told those who did know him nothing they didn't already know from the last two movies. It's gotten more and more difficult to explain to non-comics fans why anyone should be worried about this guy: basically all he's done so far is sit there while Loki and Ronan run around with the Infinity Stones he wants. If you want to build on Thanos, why not build him up? Since everyone knows what the deal with the Infinity Stones is at this point, Thanos could have taken another stone (the Time Stone or the Soul Stone) from its owner by trickery or force. For bonus points his lady love, the female personification of Death, could have shown up. Or Thanos could have done literally anything else, as long as it actually impressed. Why It May Not Have Happened: Well, it really should have. Thanos may have a role to play in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 as well, and Marvel may want to save some surprises about him for that film, but even so.
