10 Potential Directors For The Jurassic World Sequel

9. Drew Goddard

One of the most effective 21st century monster movies was Cloverfield, which was written by Drew Goddard. And for that reason alone he'd be a great choice for Jurassic Park. Cloverfield is another movie that has plenty of spectacle and a giant monster wrecking the city, but it's way more about the characters than it is about the monster. The characters in Cloverfield are well written and interesting, and Goddard's script took plenty of time to focus on the emotional toll the whole experience is taking on them. In the first act of the movie, one of the main characters is killed by the monster, and instead of just keeping things moving like a typical blockbuster, Goddard takes a significant amount of time to have the characters slow down and process everything. He really shows how devastated these people are that they just lost their friend. Contrast this to a regular summer movie, where characters are picked off and the audience doesn't really see how truly horrifying that is for these people; the action just keeps on moving. Goddard also directed The Cabin In The Woods, another movie with plenty of fun monster action. Given that the announced The Sinister Six has been put on ice following the Marvel/Sony Spider-Man deal, Goddard could be a perfect, available choice.
