What's it about? Jake Gyllenhaal gets all buff and toned to play Billy "The Great" Hope in Southpaw, another addition to the sporting drama directed by Antoine Fuqua. Billy Hope's life as one of the great boxers starts to fall apart when his wife Maureen (Rachel McAdams) is accidentally killed, and after social services take the last important person away from him - his daughter - only a comeback fight in the ring remains his last hope. Why it could be awesome: Jake Gyllenhaal is an actor at the top of his game these days, with Nightcrawler and Enemy just two recent examples of his performance prowess, so seeing him take on a role this physically challenging should be interesting. While there are no official reviews out yet, Southpaw currently has a solid 8.7 rating on IMDB, although there are currently no user reviews so the film's strengths (aside from Gyllenhaal's muscles, if you'll forgive the pun) aren't clear.
