10 Potentially Awesome Movies Released in July 2015
5. A Hard Day
What's it about? The South Korean film industry has given audiences some exceptional crime movies over the last few years, with Memories Of Murder, A Bittersweet Life and The Man From Nowhere just a few of the great titles released in the West. A Hard Day is a title to be taken literally: Ko Gun-su is a detective going through an investigation from Internal Affairs who tries to cover up a fatal hit and run on his way to his mother's funeral. A witness to his crime adds to his troubles and begins to blackmail him. Why it could be awesome: A handful of Rotten Tomatoes reviews point to A Hard Day being a wickedly fun experience, which would put it of a type with much of South Korea's crime thriller output. Jessica Kiang from The Playlist praises the film for "its cheerfully nutso inventiveness, the ballsy cycling of ramped-up tension with cathartic release," while back in 2014 it was simiarly praised at the Cannes Film Festival, so fans of the genre should be in for a treat.
