10 Potentially Great Movies Ruined By One Character

10. Jar Jar Binks - Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace

"What on earth was George Lucas thinking?" The question asked by millions of Star Wars fans around the world after seeing Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace for the first time and recalling Jar Jar Binks with a mixture of horror and disappointment. It's a question which remains unanswered from the man himself but lies in Return of the Jedi with the Ewoks - put simply, George Lucas has already demonstrated his lack of good judgement when it comes to annoying and unnecessary characters put there only to appeal to the youngest members of the audience. Still, no one could've anticipated just how annoying and unnecessary a character like Jar Jar Binks would turn out to be - a more loathed character you'd be hard pushed to find in movie history. Whether or not The Phantom Menace would have turned out great is certainly up for debate - but most of us will no doubt agree that it would have represented a significant improvement. Reimagine every scene featuring Jar Jar Binks with his character removed and you'll get a good idea of what might have been.
