10 Precise Moments Horror Icons Stopped Being Scary

5. Sharknado - A Tornado... Of Sharks...

If Jaws set the precedent for making the king of the oceans terrifying worldwide, then Sharknado is the film to undo it. With years of people being too scared to have a swim at the beach for fear of being dragged to their watery doom, all it took was a particularly strong bit of wind to make the sea a safe, enjoyable, relaxing place again. Really, we should be thanking whoever was insane enough to come up with it.

Sharknado is not the first shark spoof movie, and of course, it was definitely, definitely not the last. Spawning a franchise of six films with sharks not only flying through the skies of America but launched into space, the final film is set to feature 'time travel, Nazis, dinosaurs, knights, and Noah's ark.' It's everything you didn't know you needed.

If you thought the plastic shark took you out of the moment a bit upon re-watching Jaws, a taste of Sharknado will have you jumping in the sea, throwing some reigns on the toothy b*stards, and riding sharks like chariots through the ocean in no time. Sharks will literally never be scary again.
