10 Predictions About The Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe

1. It Will Turn Into A Comedy

After the success of House of Frankenstein and House of Dracula, Universal learned that combining stars from different franchises could put the wind back into the sails of stalling film series. By the late 40s, Universal€™s premiere comedy duo, Abbott and Costello, had lost much of their star wattage. Universal decided to pair the comedy team with its Monsters franchise in the interest of eking out a few more sequels. Audiences ate up the incongruous pairing and a string of Abbott and Costello Monsters features followed. Will history, again, repeat itself? If the Monsters universe survives long enough for audiences to get bored with it, we€™re willing to bet that Universal drums up some renewed interest in their franchise by adding in a famous comedy duo. We€™re going out on a limb with this prediction; the first rebooted Monsters movie hasn€™t even left theatres yet. However, we€™re banking on the films proving a success. What comedy team will Universal most likely call on, you ask? The obvious answer: figuratively conjoined twins James Franco and Seth Rogen. The duo already mixed horror and comedy in their feature This Is the End, so Franco and Rogen Meet Dracula doesn€™t seem like that much of a stretch. Are our predictions way off? Are there obvious outcomes for the franchise we're missing? Let us know in the comments.
