Cause Of Death: Old age. No fancy tricks or set-pieces needed here, but director Justin Lin has confirmed that Leonard Nimoy's real-life passing will be acknowledged in the new movie.
Why It Will Be Iconic: Because Spock is one of the best-loved and most memorable characters in sci-fi history, and considering how crucial his future self was in the previous two rebooted movies, it's fitting that we'll get at least a brief moment where present Spock gets to meditate on his future self's death.
The nature of the character being from the future probably means we won't get any huge fanfare for him, but a quick, potentially fourth wall-breaking nod to Nimoy's indelible legacy could make for a truly unforgettable aside.
