10 Predictions For Sony's Universe Of Marvel Characters

2. The Heroes Fans Want To See Are Overlooked

As Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse made clear, there are almost countless alternate versions of Peter Parker. Aside from those who call other realities home, there are also clones like Kaine and Ben Reilly, not to mention Spider-Girl, Spider-Woman, and heck, even Spider-Gwen! Unfortunately, none of those (aside from the latter in an animated setting) appear to be a priority for Sony Pictures.

That's absolute madness, especially when all of these characters could hold their own in solo outings. Why is Morbius a priority when moviegoers could be spending time with Ben Reilly as he travels across America coming to terms with the fact he's cloned from Peter Parker? For that matter, why isn't an upcoming live-action project taking us into the year 2099 with Miguel O'Hara?

It's almost as if Sony Pictures thinks moviegoers are too dumb to accept more than one live-action version of Spider-Man at a time, and perhaps their biggest crime is putting Miles Morales in that animated box and not letting him swing out of it. That's a great character, and one who could find plenty of success on screen alongside Tom Holland's version of the iconic superhero.
