10 Predictions For The Future of Cinema

10. €So We Need To Support Them, And Help Them To Save The Medium

Crowd-funding is perhaps the biggest and most positive advancement in independent filmmaking in the last decade. We can help young filmmakers make the films they want to make. All my heroes will be gone soon, and already I€™ve found many new talents who I know will be just as great as they are in their own unique ways. Men like Nolan and Spielberg have influenced me, and I feel I have to become a filmmaker not just to make films, but to honour everyone from Méliès and Lang to Tony Scott and Sidney Lumet and their dedication to their craft and the basic objective of filmmaking- telling a story. And not just any story, but a great story. A story that will make people laugh, cry, scream, think, fall in love, and so many other emotions. Cinema, in mind, is the single greatest creation of the last 210-odd years. And I can€™t be the only one. We all need to support the next generation any way we can to be their own unique voices, and not just studio hacks hired to make the seventh 'Resident Evil' or the prequel to the sidequel to the threequel of 'Bridesmaids'.
