10 Predictions For The X-Men Film Universe

8. A New Team

When you look for that, look for everything to be new, too. Already it's been confirmed that the characters of Storm, Jean Grey and Cyclops will be appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse, albeit they'll be recast. After all, the film's set a good thirty years before the first X-Men film was made and, despite what their agents might tell you, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen and James Marsden most certainly don't look thirty years younger than they did fifteen years ago. That's simply not how time works. In the real world, anyway. And unless you're Hugh Jackman, who somehow looked in better shape with each passing X-Men film, so he must be the exception to the rule or something. Anyway, from the sounds of it they might be looking to continue the recasting gig, possibly by bringing in some fresh faces to liven things up a bit. In fact they're definitely doing that, what with Channing Tatum being drafted into to replace Taylor Kitsch as Gambit (who previously appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine). In his previous appearance the card-wielding mutant was little more than a bit part, which wouldn't really suit the high-profile casting of Tatum, which suggests that the X-Men line-up we might see in future films could diverge from the usual of the original bunch (Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean, Storm). Of course, they're not going to be short on people to chose from, since there are about a zillion mutants running around in the comic books to chose from - the smart money's on either the recasting sticking for the rebooted films, or else the original cast being dropped and replaced with Tatum and a bunch of new actors playing new characters. Plus Hugh Jackman, obviously, the ageless freak.
