10. It's Being Released In The "Graveyard" Movie Season
Deadpool is being released on February 12th of next year, which on one hand is a clever bout of counter-programming against whatever Valentine's Day mulch is being released that week, but it's also traditionally one of the "graveyard" months, where studios dump their not-so-great films that they know are going to flop with critics if not financially as well. Now, Deadpool was probably never going to get a prime summer release date anyway, because it'd get steamrolled by much bigger superhero and action movies, but just look at the significant films released this past January and February: Taken 3, Blackhat, The Wedding Ringer, Ex Machina, Mortdecai, The Boy Next Door, The SpongeBob Movie, Project Almanac, Jupiter Ascending, Fifty Shades of Grey, Hot Tub Time Machine 2, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Focus. Only a couple of these films were actually any good at all, so though it's not a damning sign, it's also worth being skeptical right out of the gate.
