Deadpool is going to have the most irreverent tone of any comic book movie ever made, what with its smart quips, gratuitous violence and...tragic human story about a guy with cancer becoming a total bada** while trying to hold down a relationship with the woman he loves. Juggling the various feelings and tones is going to be one of Deadpool's biggest challenges, because if it's hilarious and gory one minute and tries to be sentimental and emotional the next, it's probably going to turn a lot of audiences and critics off. It's a delicate balance that's difficult to get right, all the more so when, as mentioned, the writers aren't exactly the most experienced pair. Each side of the movie needs to compliment the other rather than clashing harshly with it, so it doesn't come across as forced and jarring. Otherwise, audiences will get a sour taste whether they can articulate why or not.
