7. When Friends Blind Buy Terrible Movies Without Consulting You First

To a similar token, I have friends who will blindly buy movies on the first day they're released on Blu-ray; that is to say, they'll buy movies they haven't even seen yet, on the basis of it "looking alright" and little else. I don't buy a lot of Blu-rays because I generally only want my collection to contain movies that I truly love; blindly buying a movie and then having to convince yourself that the purchase is valid later on is a miserable business, and not one I ever involve myself in. It's fine if the movie they've blind bought ends in a result (say, they never got round to watching Inception at the cinema), but when I'm told that a buddy has bought Man on a Ledge or something equally bland on a whim, all I can do is sigh and try not to eyeball them with contempt. Of course, watching them try to justify the purchase afterwards - that's roughly £14.99 for an "okay" movie even for loose standards, remember - can be pretty hilarious.
