10 Problems With Marvel's Phase 4 (And How To Solve Them)
4. We've Got A Two Year Slate Of Disney+ Marvel Shows... What About The Netflix Shows?
Nowhere is there any mention of the Netflix shows that were recently unexpectedly cancelled - in the Phase 4 announcements, hints about Phase 5 or anywhere else.
Scuttlebutt (like gossip with dodgy small print) is that if Disney+ wants to continue the Netflix street level shows - or even just a couple of them - it’s contractually obligated to wait two years after their cancellation, although it’s not clear whether that’s two years before they can enter production or two years before they can promote and broadcast them.
The fact that in this two year slate there’s no mention of any of the Netflix shows is a bit of a slap in the face for fans who’ve been campaigning for their resurrection, not to mention a continuing gap in the MCU’s treatment of actual crimefighting superheroes. Is Spider-Man the only person stopping bank robberies and organised crime in the whole of this Marvel Universe?
Now, in fairness to Disney et al, they may well have an announcement regarding these properties up their sleeves for Hulu - some of the Netflix shows are too violent to be screened on Disney+. Equally, the Defenders cast may no longer be available: actors get other jobs. People move on.
But enough of being fair! Bring back Daredevil and Punisher, you cowards! Give us a Heroes For Hire show!
And announce Keanu Reeves as Moon Knight. You know you want to.
