10 Promising Comic Book Movies That Sadly Never Happened

2. Joss Whedon's Batman

Once again Joss Whedon and Batman makes our list with another DC property adaptation that could have been. Before Christopher Nolan got the nod to reboot the Batman mythos, Whedon had pitched his own idea for the next film for the Caped Crusader to Warner Bros. As he explained to MTV back in 2008: "In my version, there was actually a new , it wasn't one of the classics - which is probably why they didn't use it," he explained. "It was more of a 'Hannibal Lector' type - he was somebody already in Arkham Asylum that Bruce went and sort of studied with. It was a whole thing - I get very emotional about it, I still love the story. Maybe I'll get to do it as a comic one day." He went on to praise the work that Nolan would ultimately do with his Dark Knight films: "I thought Christopher Nolan's done an amazing job of bringing out the comic book, and I see a lot of movies - sorry, I had a Hulk stuck in my throat - that don't really have the aesthetic or the pathos or really get why the comic book works." Even after all these years the idea of Joss Whedon having a crack at Batman is mind blowing. He€™s an admitted life long fan and would have paid proper homage to the franchise. Or at least we€™d like to think so.
