10 Questions A Sony Spider-Verse Must Answer
7. Will Sony Revive Any Abandoned Projects?
An interconnected Spider-Verse is an exciting thought, and now that we have a hint that Venom, Morbius, and the MCU are tied (even loosely) together, it's easy to forget that this isn't the first time Sony has tried their hand at worldbuilding.
Think back to the state of Sony's Spider-Man properties in 2014. The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was almost a certainty. A Sinister Six movie was in the works. A film based on Silver Sable and Black Cat titled Silver & Black was announced. They also considered a Venom/Carnage film (and, shockingly, rumors of an Aunt May movie made the rounds).
Even before that, Sam Rami had a story planned for Spider-Man 4 and Sony considered giving Topher Grace another crack at Venom in his own solo movie.
Will Sony revisit these abandoned projects and integrate them into this new universe? While there are plenty of other directions Sony could take, it would be wise for them to peer down at the cutting room floor and pluck out a few gems. A female-fronted film would resonate well with audiences.
But to be on the safe side, let's hope they revive Silver & Black before giving Aunt May a second glance.
