10 R-Rated Characters Ruined In PG-13 Movies
2. Batman
While the likelihood of an R-Rated DCEU movie was slim, Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice tried very hard to make Batman a dark, gritty, fallen hero. He was branding criminals, seemed willing to kill (at least one guys neck got broke in the final fight for Martha) and was a far cry from the usual PG fare.
Likewise, Tim Burton's iteration was willing to kill (bombs and clowns don't mix) and had a very dark side with scenes like Max Schreck outright trying to murder Selina Kyle. Batman Returns was also famous for its misguided McDonald's toy tie-in, the movie would have benefited from the R-Rating rather than being in a Happy Meal.
With Joker being R and the success of Logan, perhaps Matt Reeves version of The Batman with Robert Pattinson will truly give us a DARK Knight that has the freedom of an R-Rating.
