10 Radical Ideas To Reboot Wolverine On Film
4. Send In The Wolverines
One of the offshoots of the Death Of Wolverine storyline involves a motley crew of villains and antiheroes associated with Logan, brought together to… ahhh, the story was inconsistent and, frankly, not worth the paper it was drawn on, but the team of X-23, Sabretooth, Mystique, Daken and Lady Deathstrike was novel enough to merit sufficient interest.
The book was called Wolverines - why not adapt the idea for cinema, featuring characters associated with Logan? It doesn’t really matter so much what that mission is right now - a death-or-glory mission to fulfill his last will and testament? - because the narrative would really only be a framework for all manner of violent, exciting mayhem and the interplay between disparate characters.
You could have the feral X-24, now loose from his defunct programme, no longer brainwashed and trying to make his way in the world; X-23, a little older and determined to honour Logan’s legacy; Sabretooth, unsure whether he’s mourning his half-brother or his lost chance to kill him personally. What about Yukio from The Wolverine, older but fortunately no wiser? Or Rogue, the last surviving X-Man, now with her trademark super strength and flight?
There’s a ton of potential there. It’s Suicide Squad spelled with an X.
