10 Razzie Nominees Now Embraced As Classics

3. Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Dumb & Dumber, And The Mask

Nominated for: Worst New Star (Jim Carrey) - 1995 Arguably the biggest film comedy star of the last 20 years, Jim Carrey burst onto the scene in 1994 with a trio of hit comedies that traded off his manic style and rubber-faced gurning. Of course, this style of performance wasn't for everyone, but it's still a surprise that the Razzies considered him a Worst New Star candidate in 1995 on a level with Anna Nicole Smith. For a Worst New Star candidate, Carrey has done pretty well for himself in the long run. The likes of The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind might be show off better performances as far as most critics are concerned, but Carrey's trio of breakthrough hits are still viewed as some of the most fondly remembered comedies of their time. More importantly, perhaps, they are also held up as examples of just the kind of film that fans would like Carrey to still be making.
