10 (Realistic) Directors Who Should Direct A Star Wars Spin-Off Film
8. George Miller
Okay, this one is probably more of a wish-fulfillment and the least likely candidate from the list. George Miller is already in his 70s and with two more Mad Max Films reportedly coming in the next few years, one with the working title The Wasteland, the other a Furiosa solo-outing, it's fair to assume that Miller is going to be a busy man for quite a while. But I have one thing to say to you:
George Miller pod-racing.
Sure, we can't expect the sort of violence and insane practical stunts that made Fury Road one of the greatest action films of all time, but the podrace scenes in The Phantom Menace were hugely underwhelming (like the rest of the film) despite having so much potential.
Just think what Miller could do with that premise, set on Tatooine, with the exact same crew that turned the Namibian desert into an apocalyptic destruction derby.
Alas, Miller is probably solely focussed on his decades-long Mad Max franchise for the foreseeable future, but in the meantime a man can dream.
