10 Really Dumb Moments In Otherwise Flawless Horror Films

1. Why Doesn't She Leave The House? - Black Christmas

Black Christmas is pretty much a horror masterpiece. From director Bob Clark, this movie was not only one of the first slasher flicks, but it was also the first movie to use the typical "the call's coming from inside the house" twist. It's a chilling moment when Jess discovers that the killer is in there with her, but what happens next nearly ruins it. While on the phone with the police, the officer first tells Jess to simply walk outside the house without asking questions. She isn't listening for some reason, so he tells her that the killer is in there and she needs to leave immediately. Any sane person would instantly drop the phone and run out, but what does Jess do? She looks around, grabs a fireplace poker, and heads upstairs. What are you doing? After finding the bodies of her friends, she's obviously going to get out now, right? Nope. Instead, she ends up locking herself in the cellar. Could there be a worse place in the house to go? Remember that scene in Scream when Sidney complains about the girls in horror movies running up the stairs when she should run out the front door? Black Christmas is probably the movie she had in mind. Which other classic horror movies still have inexplicably dumb moments? Let us know any more down in the comments.
