10 Reason Mad Max: Fury Road Should Win Best Picture

1. It's Better Than The Revenant

The Revenant and Fury Road led the pack of Oscar nominees this year. The Revenant edged out Fury Road for total number of nominations with 12 to Fury Road€™s 10. The Revenant is deserving of its accolades; the film is a technical marvel anchored by a top-tier performance from star Leonard Dicaprio and stunning cinematography. While The Revenant has deservedly wowed audiences and critics alike, its achievements do not overshadow Fury Road€™s accomplishments. Fury Road has been an unstoppable force this awards season. Metacritic.com tallied all of the year-end movie awards for 2015 and ranked the best pictures of the year by number of wins and nominations; Fury Road sits at number 2 on the list (topped only by fellow Best Picture nominee Spotlight) with 11 wins and 23 nominations from various critical bodies. No other picture from 2015 can boast the technical accomplishments, audience reception, box office tally, and critical accolades that Fury Road does. The fact that Fury Road is a totally unique, personal vision that didn€™t pander to critics or Academy voters makes its achievements that much more impressive. Fury Road deserves the Best Picture Oscar more than any other film in a year of great films. Do you agree with this article? Share your thoughts below in the comments thread.
