A cynical person would say that Ant-Man's release date was moved from 6th November to 17th July in an attempt for a tricky movie to piggy-back on the inevitable wave of hype Avengers: Age Of Ultron will make when it hits in May 2015. But while that will no doubt help Marvel be the dominant brand of next summer, it will severely hurt Ant-Man in comparison. We've already talked about how in terms of the overarching story, with the creation of Ultron transferred from Hank Pym to Tony Stark, Ant-Man is rather slight, but when compared to Age Of Ultron, a film that promises to make the Battle of New York look like a playground skirmish, it's only going to look weak. After we've seen Iron Man and Hulk clash and the whole world change, a guy leading an army of ants just won't cut it. To general audiences it'll be hard to get excited about. Iron Man 3, the first film to come after The Avengers, not only had a year gap for things to simmer down, but was a pretty large movie in its own right; it closed off an already popular trilogy and had action on a rivalled scale.
