10 Reasons Batman: Assault On Arkham Destroys Suicide Squad
7. Amanda Waller's Characterisation Makes More Sense
There's no doubting that Viola Davis gave a terrific performance as Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad, though it's a shame that her character seemed so skittish in the movie's final cut.
While fans remain confused about why Waller would kill her own intelligence team because "they didn't have clearance", in Assault On Arkham Waller is given a more consistent, logical character arc.
The set-up is basically the same, but it's made clear by movie's end that all along she wanted the Suicide Suicide to complete their mission and then get wiped out by the GCPD Special Crimes Unit, ensuring her back is totally covered. She also doesn't have a huge regard for Batman and makes that clear in a closing confrontation, but she's also humanised somewhat by her mistakes: The Riddler escapes at the end of the movie due to her actions, and that's on her.
Also, while the Suicide Squad Waller incredulously survives two should-be-fatal incidents, Assault On Arkham ends with her being lined up for a sniper kill from Deadshot.
