8. Batman Is The Most Hardcore Of All DC Superheroes
For a man who watched his parents get gunned down in front of him as a child, Bruce Wayne's life was thrust into a journey of pain and determination. There are many points to argue alongside this, perhaps the greatest being Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, which showcases an aged Batman taking down a gang of street punks and their hulking leader, his final confrontation with the Joker, and eventually an all-out knuckle-chucking between Batman and Superman (which has been referenced as source material for the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film). Also, Batman delivered a one-punch knockout to Green Lantern Guy Gardner in Justice League #5, which was later animated
here in Batman: Brave and the Bold... However, Batman was not always so grim and gritty - lest we forget Adam West's time as the Caped Crusader? Sure, he was Batman-smart enough to pack
Shark Repellent Bat-Spray when going in to combat, but for a man whose parents were murdered he sure likes to
dance a lot while in costume. There are various other clips that can be referenced here, but perhaps none are as great a nod to the campy series than those spoofed in The Simpsons
here and this tip-of-the-hat Radioactive Man clip
here.
