10 Reasons Why Batman Fans Are Always Wrong About Everything

6. Batman Doesn't Kill

This point was heavily discussed in an argument between Batman himself and the revived Jason Todd (Robin II, who was killed by the Joker). After the Joker paralyzed Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) and murdered Jason, Batman admitted that he was tempted to cross the line, but cited his personal code that if he begins to kill his enemies he will lose focus of his goal of protection, and will not be able to come back from it. Ultimately, he admits it would be "too easy." We just saw an image of Batman shooting a slumbering vampire - but it's not really killing if the person is undead, right? Well, in the dark graphic novel Batman: The Cult, Batman is brainwashed into joining Deacon Blackfire's underground followers and ultimately finds himself armed and unleashed into Gotham City, where he begins shooting upon civilians. Yes, we can submit that Batman was unaware of what he was doing, believing he was shooting villains when he was shooting innocent people. But the underlying theme is that Blackfire was able to get into Batman's subconscious, expose his vulnerabilities and ignite his darkest desires, as evidenced in Batman's thoughts: "It feels terrific. Should have done this a long time ago."
