Ben Affleck will not be appearing as a relatively unknown superhero like he was in Daredevil. He is playing arguably the most popular and the most well known superhero in existence. The studio has faith in him, and he himself recognised how poorly Daredevil was received. He must be pretty confident in his own abilities to accept the cape and cowl of Batman. He does not want to open himself up to the vicious criticism that accompanied Daredevil, and he would not want to risk his sturdy reputation on the character. At the end of the day, Ben Affleck is an actor, and actors want to be remembered fondly for their films. They do not want to be ridiculed and have the dishonour of receiving Razzie nominations and other forms of humiliation. Confidence in the script does not always equate to a great performance, but in this case Affleck would have been foolish to accept the contract if he had even a shadow of a doubt as to how he will be received. What did you think? Do you think he will be the best Batman yet? If not who do you think is best? Let us know in the comments below.
