Ben Affleck isn€™t actually that much older than Christian Bale, he€™s only two years older. Despite this, Affleck looks like he could convincingly play a Bruce Wayne a few years older than himself. Why is this a good thing you may be asking? Well, we already know that the film will draw influence from Frank Miller€™s seminal graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns, and Affleck will bring this older more serious tone to the character. He€™s not going to be playing as much of a playboy as Christian Bale was; even though most of the playboy antics of Bruce Wayne in the Dark Knight Trilogy were simply keeping up appearances, Bale€™s portrayal still had to look young. Affleck does not have to worry about that, all he has to do is act seriously. With any luck, Affleck€™s portrayal will be closer to Michael Keaton€™s much more solitary Batman than Christian Bale€™s. This isn€™t to say that Affleck€™s Batman will not be interacting with others, but Affleck does not look like the sort of Bruce Wayne to go showboating around in a Lamborghini. This will give him a seriousness and an aura of authority that we will not want to argue with.
