10 Reasons An All-Female Ghostbusters Is A Terrible Idea
8. Movie Reboots Are Mostly Awful
The movie reboot is a rather dispiriting trend that has taken off hugely in the last few years, wherein there's apparently no shame anymore in restarting a franchise that's only been dead for even a few years, as in the case of the Spider-Man series. Whether talking about serious films or comedies, the list of recent reboots that actually worked is incredibly small (Star Trek, the Jump Street series), whereas most people have lost count of the number of flop reboots (more so critically than commercially). In terms of the sheer numbers game, the odds are heavily stacked against Feig and co. for producing a reboot that actually works. Only a small number of filmmakers have managed to pull off a reboot that actually made money and didn't anger fans of the original, and as such it's highly unlikely that a new Ghostbusters movie, even though sure to be financially successful, will go over well with fans of the original. Some of them will go see it, but more out of morbid curiosity than anything.
