10 Reasons An All-Female Ghostbusters Is A Terrible Idea

6. Casting Will Be Incredibly Predictable

As well as showing his support for the all-female Ghostbusters movie, Bill Murray recently suggested his own casting picks for the movie, which included Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Emma Stone and Linda Cardellini. They're all fine choices, no doubt, though given that pretty much every commentator on the Internet has come up with the same batch of women to star in the film, doesn't it all just feel a bit safe and predictable? While it's entirely possible that Paul Feig could surprise us and cast a few against-type actresses, it'd be a major shock if McCarthy (who will be discussed again later) and Wiig didn't make the cut given their previous success working with Feig. Still, there's the overwhelming fear that the cast could simply be "Bridesmaids Revisited" rather than something that stands on its own two feet. Even so, there's admittedly a fair question that follows: would people really be making the same complaint if, say, Michael Cera, Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Danny McBride and James Franco were cast in an all-male Ghostbusters movie? Quite possibly not, valid though the complaint would still be.
