8. Douche. Bag.
We'll probably go into more depth with this term later on in the lists, but to get into the general meaning of the term, we have to look inside the cinephile's mind. To the cinephile, he or she is not a douchebag. People are just too stupid or ignorant to understand passion for film as an art form, at least this is what cinephiles think; they are outside the mainstream who think movies are popcorn entertainment. Hence, we see cinephiles as ignorant, snobby, abnormal beings who like to read film reviews and write their own critiques in their spare time when they're not watching 2001: A Space Odyssey. The ignorant and snobby part is what we generally refer to when we call cinephiles douchebags. While I sympathize with cinephiles in the film as art aspect, all compassion goes out the window once that chin goes up and a scoff quickly follows when a person admits he didn't "get" Eraserhead. They seem to only care about certain types of film while disrespecting everyone else's tastes and referring to anything below the 90% mark on Rotten Tomatoes as trash. However, the next time a cinephile sneers at your top 10 movie list, hold back the urge to hit him. At least you're not his girlfriend.

I'm a thinker/fantasizer who writes down his thoughts and fantasies hoping it makes sense to everyone else. Also I'm an aspiring screenwriter, but if I can work in film at all, I'd be happy. One day you may hear the name Ryan Kim and associate it with "Academy Award winning writer" or with "where's that guy with my coffee." If the latter comes true, please let it be Paul Thomas Anderson's coffee I'm getting.
