9. Is There Nothing Else?
Movies. All day, every day, no rest for the wicked. The only sustenance you will get is popcorn or kettlecorn; the only beverage offered will be cola, beer, or wine depending on if the film is horror, action, or French; and then your weekend will be over because you just spent the last 12 hours in either a Godfather trilogy marathon or a Kurosawa filmography binge. And your mother had such high hopes for your significant other. In reality, it's not all that bad, but you shouldn't ask cinephiles what they would prefer to do on the next date because the answer is going to be quite predictable. "Let's watch Charlie Chaplin's films and then compare Robert Downey Jr.'s depiction of him in Chaplin!" Uhhh, can't we just go to TGIF and have a few drinks and then call it a night? No, because in all honesty, there is nothing else for the cinephile. Movies are life and when he or she is told by someone to go out and experience an aspect of it, the cinephile will find a movie about that aspect and watch that instead. Lazy? Maybe, but it's mostly because wide angled shots, rack focuses, and slow tracking shots are superior to what he can experience on his or her own. Plus, a camera can get into those hard to reach places that your eyes can't.
