10 Reasons Ghostbusters Isn't As Bad As You Think

9. It Actually Feels Like A Proper Ghostbusters Movie

One of the most complimentary things that can be said about the new movie is that it actually feels like a legitimate Ghostbusters film. Take away the gender-swap twist and the core components from the previous movies are all there: a wise-cracking team, a**hole bureaucrat characters, a borderline-nonsensical supernatural plot, giant effects-driven villains, scientific jargon, bizarre weaponry and, of course, New York City.

Though it can't hold a candle to the original Ghostbusters overall, the tone and style of the film fits the franchise like a glove, and it feels as consistent a follow-up as fans could reasonably expect almost 30 years after the previous movie.

Don't worry: none of the series' precious iconography is abused or mocked, but rather given a genuine, loving tribute.
