10 Reasons Guardians Of The Galaxy Might Fail

1. Over-Eagerness To Tie Itself To The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Another balance that may be difficult to find is between selling itself as a commodity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and establishing itself as its own property. After all, the best way for Marvel to avoid a huge loss is to make it explicitly clear in trailers that the movie is part of the same world as The Avengers, yet if they express this too much, audiences are going to be disappointed when only passing references are made to the characters and situations we're familiar with. For one, it's expected that we'll probably see The Collector making mention of both the Aether (from Thor) and the Tesseract (from Captain America and The Avengers), and a post-credit scene teasing The Avengers 2 would probably be appropriate as well. Given that the Guardians reportedly won't be appearing in The Avengers 2, it's best not to make more out of them than is necessary: we can leave that for a rumoured Guardians sequel in 2016 (presuming this one does well), and also The Avengers 3. What did you make of the Guardians trailer? And do you think the movie will flop or succeed?
