10 Reasons IT Is Better Than The Original

5. The Losers' Club Is More Convincing

Aside from Tim Curry's much-loved performance, the most consistently-praised aspect of the 1990 adaptation is the ensemble cast of young actors who make up the Losers' Club.

The likes of Jonathan Brandis, Emily Perkins and Seth Green are especially impressive in the roles of Bill, Beverly and Richie, but naturally they're left at the mercy of the material, and so they end up rather effortlessly outdone by the new movie's Losers' Club.

The 2017 film is put at an immediate advantage in this respect due to its R rating, which allows the kids to actually speak like kids would, rather than as distractingly sanitised TV-friendly equivalents.

While most of the kids do fine work in the original movie, the new set of kids just play as far more authentic, which in a movie centered entirely around their friendship, is absolutely paramount.
