10 Reasons IT Is Better Than The Original

2. Better Pacing

Even though the first part of the 1990 adaptation is universally regarded as effortlessly superior to the widely-reviled second half, it's still highly flawed and suffers from some particularly egregious pacing issues.

From the outset, the original wastes precious screen time showing the adult Losers all receiving phone calls informing them of Pennywise's return, and their various personal troubles throughout feel both rushed and forced, as if coming out of nowhere.

In the 2017 film, everything feels like it occurs much more naturally, be it the emergence of Pennywise or the personal dramas of the young Losers, especially as it pertains to Beverly's abuse.

In the 1990 movie, her personal drama feels like a melodramatic interjection from a Lifetime soap opera, and is frequently unintentionally hilarious as a result.
